ALKS Regulation Verification Package
The world’s first ALKS verification package is a commercial implementation of UNECE regulatory scenarios regarding Automated Lane Keeping Systems – UN Regulation 157.
Appendix 3 of the regulation – Guidance on Traffic Disturbance Critical Scenarios for ALKS – includes 3 traffic disturbance critical scenarios:

ALKS Code Examples Are Now Available
The Code Is Open-Source and Includes:
Scenario Definition
Based on UNECE’s regulatory scenarios and using OpenSCENARIO 2.0.
Sample of Coverage Points and KPIs
Captures scenario regulatory requirements and enables to measure how complete your V&V process is.
Examples of How to Use the Scenarios
Explore known and unknown edge-cases in tests.
Sample of the Regulation Checks
Ensures that the DUT behaves as the regulation requires.

ALKS Regulation Scenarios
Cut-In
The ‘other vehicle’ suddenly merges in front of the ‘ego vehicle’.
Cut-Out
The ‘other vehicle’ suddenly exits the lane of the ‘ego vehicle’.

Deceleration
Deceleration the ‘other vehicle’ suddenly merges in front of the ‘ego vehicle’.

ALKS Regulation Scenarios
ALKS Scenario Package Key Features
The world’s first commercial implementation of the UNECE regulation 157. The package provides a complete verification solution based on the new regulation.
Package includes a predefined coverage model to ensure a thorough execution of the regulatory requirements.
Regulation’s specific abstract scenarios enabling the automated generation of a massive number of random tests to expose bugs, edge cases, and unknown unknowns.
Scenarios include self-checking to validate proper vehicle responses.
The generated tests are meaningfully different, randomizing location, timing, speed and position at different scenario phases.
Scenarios are portable, reusable, and “map agnostic”. They run on any suitable combination of maps and execution platforms (SIL, HIL, etc.).

Safety regulation compliance flow for Automated Driving Systems demo, using the ALKS package with Mobileye’s RSS

In a joint demonstration with Mobileye, Foretellix’s ALKS verification package generated the required regulation scenarios and parameters and provided measurable metrics on the RSS controlled vehicle behavior. The package used Mobileye’s RSS model to ensure that the tested vehicle did not initiate dangerous situations and properly responded to dangerous situations initiated by other vehicles.

Improve Quality
By exposing more bugs, edge cases, and unknown unknowns early in the development cycle.
Reduce the Cost of Testing
By automating the creation of meaningful tests and monitoring of results.
Reduce Time of Deployment
By utilizing proven intelligent methodologies guided by metrics and analytics.
